Teddy With Shirt Tutorial

Finally I got a chance to prepare this tutorial.. It might not be a professional tutorial but I hope it help you in a way.. ^_^

I won't list out what tools needed here.. but you can always refer to my 1st Teddy tutorial HERE.

Body
1
  • (1) Take an amount of gum paste (some called it sugar paste. It's the same thing.. ^_^).. and knead. Photo showing you how to knead. pressing the gum paste using the lower part of your palm.
  • (2) When the gum paste is soft enough (Easy to mold) , tinted with brown colour using cocktail stick. Photo shows how to tint the gum paste and knead the gum paste again until even.
  • (3) Ready to be mold. Cut a little bit of the brown gum paste and keep aside for the hands and legs.
  • (4) Using your palm.. roll and shape the gum paste to form this shape (Photo no.4). It's the body part.

Pants and Feet
2

  • (1) Prepare another ball of gum paste for the pants.. I tinted my gum paste with blue.. (My teddy wearing blue jeans ^_^)
  • (2) Roll into sausage size.. depends on how long the legs size you want. Cut into 2.
  • (3) Using your palm, roll each sausage to create this shape.. almost a con shape.
  • (4) We are now creating a pants hole. Using a gum paste tool (Big ball tool).. make a hole on the wide part of the pants. You can use any other stuff to poke and later use your finger to make a thinner shape around the pants edge.
  • (5) Flatten a bit on the pointy part of the pants.
  • (6) Make another small hole inside the hole.. to slot in the foot later. I am using the pointy part of a painting brush (Which I used only for my sugar art work).

3
Take half of the brown piece we kept on the first place. Use your finger, create this shape.. This is the feet. Make a sharp shape on top of the feet.. just nice into the hole we make on the pants.

4
Using your paint brush.. brush some glue (I am using Tylo glue. Special for sugar art project. check out how I prepare it on my side bar) inside the pants hole and slot in the feet. Stick the legs to the body. You can refer to my previous tutorial if you not sure how.

If you don't have tylo glue.. You can use water too.. but take time to stick together.

5
Using the pointy edge of the knife.. create lines of the pants.. up to your creativity.

Shirt
6
  • (1) Take a small amount of white gum paste... and roll into thin layer and cut (using Pizza cutter or just use your knife) into this shape.. rectangle..
  • (2) Make a small slit, top and lower.. 1 is shorter (For the collar).
  • (3) Next.. Cut into this shape on the longer slit.
  • (4) Brush Tylo glue around the body.
  • (5) Carefully place the shirt on the body. Use Tylo glue/water to glue which ever area needed. Especially at the back. Remember the short slit will be on the middle top (Neck. as the collar).
  • (6) Fold the collar as on photo. Do not bend it to much.
Note: You can make the shirt longer to cover the lower part body (So you won't see the brown colour underneath. Or you can wrap half of the teddy's body with blue before doing the pants part)

Hands
7
Making the hands, just follow the same instruction on making the pants. Just make it shorter and using white gum paste as the sleeves. For hand, just make it round.

8
Paste the hands on the body. You can refer to my previous tutorial if you not sure how.

9
I used a satay stick or cocktail stick as the neck base. Easy to connect the head later. I prepared the head (Check out how on my previous tutorial) and let it be this way for a night to make it harden. I will only place the head on the next day..

I hope you enjoy the tutorial.. ^_^
